Connect with IIDA!

Network with IIDA on the internet's most used social networking sites, including Twitter, Facebook, IIDA's Professional Blog and LinkedIn

Dear IIDA Community,

The weather is getting (slightly) warmer and the long stretch of holidays has finally come to an end. No more excuses for why we aren't fulfilling our New Year's Resolutions...

If any of your resolutions were professionally-oriented, DesignMatters is here to help. Read the latest IIDA Professional blog for a discussion on the merits and pitfalls of creating a mobile portfolio; learn about the newest trade show in Las Vegas, INSPIREDESIGN, for which IIDA is serving as the Education Partner; and stay updated on your Chapter's events and CEU opportunities through the Chapter Events section.

And keep on the lookout for a new and improved DesignMatters coming your way soon!

Perspective Reader Survey Results and Contest Winner

Thanks to everyone who took the time to help us make Perspective a better tool for your daily use.  We learned some important information from the survey results:

  • You really like the CEUs in the quarterly journal and want to see more of them. (Did you know we highlight 3 – 7 different CEUs each day on iida.org, and that we offer hundreds of CEUs online?)
  • Typically, ½ of all respondents read “all” or “most” of Perspective each issue.
  • 1/3 of respondents keep each issue (and we’ll make it more fun for you to collect every issue in the coming year, but don’t let that keep you from sharing your issue with a colleague).
  • You’d like to see us cover a variety of topics in the future, including workplace trends, healthcare related design, business development tips, and industry leaders.

With your feedback, we’ll start reworking the design of Perspective starting with the Spring issue. Until then, watch your mail next week for the Winter issue. And keep the conversation going at www.iida.org or directly at jfisher@iida.org.

Congratulations to Matthew Schenk, IIDA, who was randomly chosen out of over 500 respondents to receive an iPod Touch for completing the survey.

Mobile takeover: Mobilfolios

Every so often I peruse the discussions that are taking place on the IIDA LinkedIn page. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, I recommend taking a look.

If you’re not a follower and don’t have any interest in setting up an account, today’s your lucky day because I’m bringing the most-followed conversation to you. The discussion in question is on mobile portfolios, or mobilfolios.

IIDA Leaders Breakfast

IIDA is pleased to announce the lineup for the 2010 IIDA Leaders Breakfast series. Seattle kicks off the series this year, followed by returning participants New York, Houston, San Francisco, Chicago and Toronto. Special thanks to returning media sponsor Interior Design magazine and national benefactor Herman Miller. For more information, contact Jeanne Fisher at jfisher@iida.org.

Membership Renewal

If you haven’t yet paid your dues don’t miss out on exciting new initiatives in 2010!  IIDA announced last Fall that Membership Dues would remain the same for 2010, based on the current economy. This great news came despite the fact that last year, the International Board voted on a three-year incremental increase of Membership dues.

IIDA is committed to cultivating Membership by quickly responding to the needs of individuals, combined with initiatives like Re:Work, Leaders Breakfast and informative Principals Roundtables. Membership benefits, like Perspective, first insights for recent and ongoing industry research, event discounts and an amazing network of colleagues and professionals make Membership more important now than ever.

If you’d like more information on the Member Stimulus Campaign, changing your Membership to inactive status, and more, don’t hesitate to contact us at Membership@iida.org or reference www.iida.org to make a payment.  We appreciate your Membership!
